PERL Script Tutorial – Remove Column from Delimited File

What is a Delimited File?

A delimited file is a file where the data is separated by special or unique characters. The most common form of a delimited file is the .CSV (Comma separated values) file format. These files, as you can guess, have the data separated by commas (,). For example, you can save an Excel spreadsheet document as an .CSV file and it will separate all the fields with a comma. Other examples of delimited files include .TSV (Tab separated values), quotation marks, or really any other File that has a unique character (or character pattern) that separates actual data (words, phrases) that you need to utilize.

Tesla Autopilot Technology - Are we ready?

What is Tesla Autopilot?

The race to fully automate a vehicle has been on for quite a while amongst the various automobile manufactures. While, the technology has been around for a couple of years, it’s still kind of new and scary when your life is in hand. A recent crash involving the Tesla Model S has literally scared Americans of the technology.

A couple weeks ago, I visited a Tesla store at a local mall and checked out the Tesla Model S in person. And let me tell you, it’s an Ipad on wheels! I mean everything is touchscreen controlled, from the radio to the doors. I’m not a big fan of electric vehicles, however, in the future I believe electric vehicles will replace all gas vehicles, whether or not I like it. Even though I love gas-guzzling sports cars, I can’t help but welcome the new electric cars because of the cutting-edge technology that the manufacturers incorporate.

Create WordPress plugin Font Awesome Icons – 2016

Do you own a WordPress theme that didn’t come pre-installed with FontAwesome or any awesome icons? Or do you just want to learn how to create a WordPress plugin? Well, either way, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, I’m going to show you a very simple way to add Font Awesome icons to your website, while at the same time you will learn how to create a very basic WordPress plugin. Font Awesome lets you add awesome icons, which they have created, to your website, by using simple HTML. I am going to be assuming you have already downloaded WordPress, and have somewhat of a website setup.

WordPress plugins are bits of software that can be uploaded to to extend and expand the functionality of your WordPress site.ithemes.com

Font Awesome “left-quote” icon was used in the blockquote above. As you can see, it can help make your website more user friendly, by allowing you to better organize your content.

Although Font Awesome can be added simply by specifying a single-line <link> in the <head> section of your tag, the purpose of this tutorial is to show you how to create a basic plugin.

Setup a free JavaScript IDE with Sublime Text 3

Sublime Text 3 is a notepad replacement on steroids. However, it’s not just a colorful text pad, it can be transformed to a full-feature JavaScript IDE. It’s a neat, feature-rich, text-editor which allows developers to easily keep track of, and edit, their code. In my opinion it’s the best free JavaScript IDE. It is my favorite notepad replacement and coding tool, and there is no time limit on the unregistered version (unlike the 30 day trial period for WebStorm). After your license expires, you can continue to use the software however, if you do like it, I recommend buying it for $70.00 to support the Sublime team. Although WebStorm is also a great IDE, in this post I am going to show you how to setup a simple JavaScript IDE (Integrated Development Environment) in Sublime Text 3.

Sublime Text 3 is available for: WindowsLinuxMac/OSX

Ring Video Doorbell – ding dong ditch?

I’m sure you guys have heard of Ring Video Doorbell by now, seeing as they have so many commercials, and the bell has been out for a while. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s okay, just watch the video above to get a description of the product or visit their website. It’s basically a doorbell with a camera on it, that is connected to your wireless network. Every time someone ring’s the bell, your phone will buzz/notify you that there is someone at the door. At which point you can pick up your phone, and answer (or ignore) based on who it is at your door. You can speak with the person directly through your phone as well. The best part is the person at the door can’t see you, so you can tell the you’re out somewhere. Here is the “Ring Story” (from the box):

..If not for my wife, the Ring Video Doorbell would not exist.
Inventors come up with a lot of bad ideas and she has heard them all. One night I shared my idea for reinventing the doorbell.
She loved it! Not just for the obvious convenience, but for the security of now being able to safely answer the door from anywhere. She said, “This is like caller ID for the front door.”
I hope that you enjoy the Ring Video Doorbell as much as we do, and I look forward to hearing your stories about the product

  • The ARDX Starter Kit

Use mklink command to backup any folder to Dropbox

If you use Dropbox, like me, it can sometimes be annoying that it will only sync folders/files that you specifically place in the “Dropbox” folder.  This can get annoying at times when you have a folder in another location that you wish to also have backed up to Dropbox, yet do not wish to move it physically.  It turns out, there is a really neat trick that you can utilize to allow you to sync any folder with your Dropbox folder.

All you really need is the Windows Command Prompt.

How to Sync any folder with Dropbox:

You need to make sure you do not make any typo’s because you will have to use the Windows Command Prompt.  I will first have you setup the command in a text editor, such as Notepad.  (I will be using “Sublime Text” – which is practically the same thing only better.)

Open Notepad/Sublime Text:

01
